L’attenzione della pittura cinque-seicentesca verso la gestualità delle figure è la fonte di ispirazione di questa installazione. I gesti delle mani, in moltissimi ritratti dell’epoca, sono volutamente forzati nonostante appaiano perfettamente spontanei. Il tema dell’apparenza racconta la contrapposizione tra la recita che avviene nel “tenere” l’oggetto e l’estrema delicatezza dell’immagine che ne risulta. Confrontiamo queste azioni con quelle di moltissime ragazze mentre passeggiano nelle nostre città: se osserviamo il gesto del “portare” una borsa su di un braccio mentre con la mano stessa si tiene un cellulare il paragone diventa immediato. Gli autoritratti a parete, eseguiti da Rosa Elena, ci riportano ad una “iconografia” cinque-seicentesca contrapposta ad una realtà contemporanea. Sono immagini che si ispirano a dipinti di Ludovico Carracci, Leonardo da Vinci e di Bernardino Scapi. Oggetti ed animali raffigurati all’epoca che servivano a dichiarare uno stato sociale o religioso scompaiono per fare posto ad oggetti attuali. Oggetti che a loro volta servono a dichiarare chi siamo. Il video di Mario si coniuga con le immagini a parete attraverso il gesto vero e proprio. L’intenzione è quella di mostrare l’essenza del gesto come se fosse vista od immaginata dal pittore che stava eseguendo il ritratto. “Suona”, “pelle”e “acqua” sono i nomi dei gesti che rimandano agli oggetti delle fotografie esposte, ed anche a tutto ciò che nel cinque-seicento faceva tanto modo e moda.

The portraits on the wall, made ​​by Rosa Elena, take us back to a "iconography" of the fifteen and sixteenth century as opposed to a contemporary reality. They are images that are inspired by paintings by Ludovico Carracci, Leonardo da Vinci and Bernardino Scapi. Objects and animals depicted at the time that used to declare a state social or religious objects disappear to make way for the present. Objects that are used to declare who we are.
